On February 12, 1969 Miss Oregon became the Official Hostess for the State of Oregon.This was voted in by the Fifty-fifth Legislative Assembly.The Legislative Assembly proclaimed that there shall be only one Miss Oregon at any one time and that the Current Miss Oregon, Miss Marjean Kay Langley,and all future Miss Oregon’s who succeed her, shall serve as the official hostess of the State of Oregon.
A little known fact is that in 1922, 1923, and 1926 three women from Portland, Oregon were chosen by the Oregonian Newspaper to represent Portland at the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City. These women each received an all expense paid trip to Atlantic City and competed in the Miss America Pageant during these years.
